Underweight geckos. help

lostkauze Feb 25, 2004 05:22 PM

I just got a scale today, and was weighing my geckos. My biggest girl is only 46 g. Everyone is 2 years old, or in that neighborhood, and feed extremely well, but I read here how breeders should be 60-70 grams, so I'm a bit concerned. Why are my leos so lightweight. They are all fat looking, and are full length. Its weird. I'm open to questions and suggestions.

Sometimes leopards are just small. I have a lovely, healthy, 3 year old striped/jungle female that weighs around 48 grams, and she has produced some very nice offspring! I also have a couple of Albey girls that never get more than about 50-52 grams, but are nice and fat, and have no problems laying eggs or losing weight.

As long as your temperatures are correct (90 degrees belly heat on the warms side of their enclosure), the geckos are eating & pooping well, are supplemented with calcium and vitamins, and have a nice fat reserve in their tails, they are fine!

ya, everyone is eating, pooping, and doing very well. I just see everyone's gecko pics and weights, and I always considered mine normal because they look like the same size. Everyone has laid eggs too, good ones, but I just thought mine were a little on the lightside.
