hi all. right here is the problem. i have a group of young mice of 1.5 and they have just stared to breed. i also have a adult group of 1.4 that have bred b4 but have stopped so i got the male from the 1.5 group and chucked him in the 1.4 group to get the other males arse into gear. the problem is they are albino and i didnt mark the male. so i removed one and put him back with his 1.5 group. earlier i found two dead pinkies. so iv seperated two pregnant females so they are isolated. i think i put the wrong male back but aint sure. i want to get the two pregnant females back into a group, but how do i do this cos they r pregnant. can i add a different male when the babies are weaned. any help would be great cheers.

It probably wouldn't have mattered what male you put back...moving mice around results in killing very often. With mice you have to set up a group and leave it the heck alone. Don't move nobody, nohow.
To get a male back in with the group I would grow one of the male pups up. Or, if you want to you could wait til the babies are all weaned and gone and then reintroduce a male. Don't just toss him in. Set him up in a tub and give him a couple days then put in the girls. Watch for fighting.

Especially with the content of this post. Mouse colonies strike me as a chaotic system.

i know they are. but they breed easily and quickly. im new to this breeding and i need breeders. i have got rats but they aint doin anything yet.

Rats are much easier and more dependable breeders. Forget the mice, unless you have reptiles that can't eat a pinky rat...? Rats are much easier and more dependable breeders.

I have a 1.4 colony of mice (so that I can give pinks to my Leopard Geckos) and I've had nothing but trouble with them too.

I'm on my second colony now. I bought the first 1.4 group last summer but only one of the 3 females ever produced and right after the second litter, she died. I finally gave up on the rest of them about a month ago and fed them away. I'm starting with young again. So, now I'm back to the waiting game, waiting for the females to get mature enough. They "look" big enough now but still, no babies.

During the same time (about 6 months) that I've had these mice and gotten nowhere, my rats have been wonderful. I've turned 2 breeding groups of rats, 1.4 each, into 7 groups of 1.4. And, 2 of the young groups have already had a litter of pups. Meanwhile, I've kept all of my 20-30 snakes fed too.

So, my advice...dump the mice unless you absolutely have to have pinkie mice.

A month and a half before I met you, I had to do something drastic. My rats weren't producing enough and I was flat broke. I didn't know what else to do so traded away one of my snakes for enough feeder rodents to feed all the rest. I hated giving my snake up and I cried for days but I had to do something. My snakes hadn't eaten in 5-6 weeks and I felt awful for it...so, for the good of the rest, I gave one up. I still miss him. (He was a huge Snow Corn.)

So, in case I didn't tell you enough, DeMak...THANK YOU!!! LOL!
