Best substrate for laying eggs

Wanted to know the best substrate for beardies to lay eggs in.....please post soon, I need to get to the store....thanks

Well since it is "DIRT" cheap LOL (Sorry, but that was too easy to make a joke out of)

It varies... depending on what time of year, how many clutches were laid and by how many different females.

Since I only have 3 laying females right now and they are all clean from parasites, etc. I would say that I will change this batch every 3 months. That would be approx 9 clutches per change.

Hope that kinda helps..... it is a hard question to answer because so many different things contribute to it.

Hey Cheryl,

We use a mix of potting soil (unfertalized cheap stuff), peat moss, and vermiculite. Holds the moisture pretty well so it doesn't cave in and is still pretty easy to dig in.
