Are proportional thermostats needed to safely operate home made incubators?

rujonesin Feb 25, 2004 08:08 PM

I am building an incubator and the cost difference is $50 more for a proportional thermostat. I don't mind spending the money if they really are better, but do you think they are needed. I am looking at those new Johnson controls themostats. Would they be sufficient or should I cough up the extra money? Your thoughts are appreciated.

Mike

Not unless you want the temps to be exact. I like the GCS unit. You can controll 4 incubators at different temps with it and there's even an accessory where if something screws up the thing will call/page you. That little extra piece of mind is worth every penny.
