Margarita Island

Matthewkot Feb 25, 2004 08:40 PM

Thought I'd have everyone cross their fingers for me. I'll be going to Margarita Island, Venezuela for a week. I definitely plan on spending some time asking the locals and looking for D.c. margaritae. From the information I could find on the web, it seems like the west side of the island is the place to check.

I'd assume somewhere near water and cover (trash piles and stumps, palm fronds, etc.) would be a good place to start. Given that the mainland cribos seem to have been found road cruising in the morning, I'll focus my time there.

Cross your fingers, I'll certainly take a ton of pictures with the digital camera if luck is on my side. Any input is welcome.

Matt

Do you realize there is only one specimen known to science?

Let us know how it turns out, and PLEASE take your camera with you at all times!!

(of course it's when you forget the camera that you'll see one)

If D.c. margartae can move like D. melanurus I would start practicing running with a camera.

Good luck, enjoy the sites and weather.
