I have an RES who is probably about 7 or 8 years old. I have had her for 4 years. A few days ago she produced eggs for the first time - unfertilized. since she is the only turtle in the tank. So, I have lots of quetions.... How often will she do this? Is it O.K. for her to be in the tank or should she be on land at times like this. I wasn't there when she did it but noticed changes in her behavior for a few days before - not eating, moving everything around in the tank. And it also made a terrible mess in the tank because she broke all of the eggs.

thats too bad.some females will double clutch-u may see this again in a few months.or maybe never again.
regarding "land"?well that will allow her to complete her normal cycle.even w/out a male present there is a sequence of events that she will instinctively follow.my girls liked to nest in about ten inches of cypress mulch.i have absolutely no proof, just my observations, but it seems to me that it would be less stressful for her if you provide a nestbox.again, she may never use it,but...
it does make a heck of a mess in the tank-time for a complete water change.
