>>I have had a cornsnake already, and am interested is getting something a little different. My main constraints are that I want a snake that is very docile and that grows no larger than 4 to 5 feet. I've done my research, but i'd rather have some first hand input. I have been thinking about ball pythons and rosy boas. Any recommendations would be great.
If 'Very Docile' is a serious constraint then I personally wouldn't recommend a ratsnake, or a Carpet python or a Children's python. They are active, can be tamed down, but don't meet the 'very docile' label in my book. These guys have some killer feeding responses and are not necessarily for the faint of heart.
Very docile to me is a rosy boa or sand boa. I would nix a Ball just because if you do the norm and get one at a shop you are getting a PITA half the time feeder that is really not gonna want to be out. To me they are shy, not docile out of choice. IF you get a well bred, eating BP you will have less of the pain but not all gone.
