I'm a little pissed that the moderator can freely delete posts on this, the "open discussion" forum at her whim. I've read teh terms of agreement and I understand the rules. But lately posts have been deleted that are at best borderline and I believe do not violate the terms.

My anti-religion post was removed with out comment. Why? Are we now at a place that the forum moderator is free to delete any post she simply disagrees with? And with no explanation what-so-ever? If so, this is the depths of censorship.

I don't mind posts being deleted if they are purely abusive, but it appears now that posts are being deleted simply because the moderator doesn't like them. If thats going to be the case, then the moderator should at least have the guts to state clearly in the forum that she deleted posts on a purely personal bias. At least then we could all pick up and leave.

When you delete a post, why don't you take a minute and state why they were deleted as other forums do? Otherwise it seems like a very little bit of power has gone to someone's head.

Joe

I went back and checked the rules. my guess is you got deleted probably for RELIGIOUS SLURS. Pity because your post and the others that were deleted made some good points.

It can just be one post sometimes. If that one post in a thread messes it up, somtimes the whole thread goes along with it. I personally enjoyed the discussion and found nothing wrong with it. But I do not want to get banned for talking about it, so I will shut up now.

Well that really is a pity then. This is an open discussion forum, and its a shame that one person can delete whatever they want, especially when they may have a personal bias on the subject. This is the worst kind of control over speech - very much like what we are seeing in Iran right now with the elections there.

Its curious though. What the moderator managed to do was to show very clearly why free speech is so vitally important to our democracy. By acting like a petty tyrant she was able to amplify the importance of big picture democracy.

I guess I can say good-bye to this "open discussion"

and why pray tell are you so dead on certain that your posts were ever pulled? did you even bother to ask the moderator first? far as I can tell only posts instigated by a pair of well known trolls and the replies to their posts have been pulled from this forum on a regular basis. this forum unlike the others gets a great deal more leeway on the topics being discussed. in my opinion, there is a lot here that should be pulled but it doesn't happen. pfft.

According to our Terms of Service:
If you have had your ability to log in, post, or upload on/to the site rescinded, or had posts or images removed, or had your access to chat rooms blocked, you may contact the site coordinator of the appropriate site and appeal the action. Any public discussion of actions against a user's account will be removed, and we will not discuss any action against a user's account with anyone but the individual themselves.

In other words, we don't discuss removal of posts publically or make comments why.

With that said, before you start publically bashing the moderators, please take the time to do two things:
1. Check and make sure your post really was removed.
2. Make a good faith effort to communicate privately with the appropriate people to find out what you did wrong if indeed the post was removed.

Now if you will scroll on down the page, I believe that you will find your post still intact. No one touched it.
