I have a few questions concerning Albino Red Eareds. First off I have a question about the genetics. I realize that it is a simple recessive trait, but are there multiple strains of albanism in RES? I have seen differnt for sale ads with somewhat differnt looking albinos with different shade of yelow or white and some advertised as T suggesting various strains of the albino gene. If purchasing albinos for breeding could one possibly breed a pair of phenotypical albinos and produce normal offspring which of couse would then be heterozygous? Another question regarding the albinos is about the result of the albino gene contributing to photosensitivity. Will albinos go blind if kept in natural sunlight even if there are always shaded areas? If the photosensitivity is a problem in that aspect how do you provide essential UVB for proper health? Thanks for taking the time to read this and any information is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
