Another quick pac man question

sebring Feb 26, 2004 10:13 AM

If I have a 2 inch long pac man on unmilled sphagnum substrate that is damp in a 10 gallon tank, how often should I clean it?

Personally, I find sphagnum is quite messy, and it provides a breeding ground for the crickets and mealworms that can easily get away from the frog in the maze of moss. Try using bed a beast, which is hands down one of the best substrates for horned frogs.

Moss can cause impaction, also. I know a girl from another forum whose toad died from getting an impaction due to swallowing moss while feeding. Granted, moss looks nice in your tank for a few days. But if your frog can swallow and thus die frrom it, please avoid it!

I agree I used to have sphagnum moss and after a while it loses its coloring and doesn't look nice at all.I use bed-a-beast now and it looks alot nicer.
