the gloves in Kevlar?

thomas.leclercq Feb 26, 2004 03:04 PM

Hello,
Will I like to have your opinion on the gloves in Kevlar of at Midwest? Does it prevent a bite really? What bite do you already have sudden with these gloves?
I think mainly to use them to manipulate some opistoglyphes as Boomslang (D. typus), Philodryas olfersii, etc...
Is it that the model with the tablets made of metal brings a more?
Thank you
Regard Tom

check out Dr. Bryan Fry's site. He bite tested that gloves with various vipers and elapids. He gives really good reviews on the midwest site, but later gave mixed reviews on th forums of his own site. you can check it out at:

I think that theyre okay personally and do offer some protection agains smaller fanger snakes and large non-venomous, but I wouldn't go up against a large fanged viper or elapid.

I agree with the other post.

May I ask where you get you Philodryas o.?

I keep P. a. and am looking to expand my Philodryas collection but I cannot find anyone in the U.S. that can show me someone in Brazil or get any themselves.

Thank you for your answers.
I have a female Philodryas olfersii that I have buy on one meeting in Europe and that was sold like Philodryas aestivus.
Unfortunately I ignore where to provide me a male. I am going to look for on the meeting if I find some and also to try to bargain with an importer to try to make import of it.
Regard Tom
