breeding papuan pythons

apopapu Feb 26, 2004 07:04 PM

if anyone has any good information on apodora please contribute...there is no competition for then in the captive bred market. So far, ive had a trio for eight years. first copulation was this january, and ive whittnessed repeated inverted basking with one, who has stopped feeding and only sometimes thermoregulates (basking in opposite sites of the cage in alterations. she shed feb 8, looks about the same size, and ive been trying to palpate her, but have only been able to notice a recent firmness, but cant distinguish eggs. Does anyone know about when in gestation eggs are palpable? this ,hopefully, gravid female is a larger girth cb female approx 10 feet so im thinking it would be hard to palpate her anyway. Any help someone could offer would be much appreciated.
cheers

the best source of information on papauans ive found is searching thru the breeders bragging post and the mailbag at www.vpi.com, dave and tracy barker have reproduced papuans and theres a bit more information on their site than ive managed to find on the net as a whole. i wish i could be more helpful, but i keep only 1 papuan, and shes about 6 to 8 years too young to even think about breeding. good luck.
