Yes, I think I actualy got my 4 year LTCs for that same price. SIGH... if he still has them in a week or two I might be able to afford them. I'm trying to think how much the vet bills could be, and what the liklehood is I'd actually want/need to treat them for anything. They say with Uroplatus sometimes the treatment is worse than the disease, you know?

I was using Uroplatus as a metaphor- they're a slightly more commonly kept animal from the same sort of habitat as cats.

Sniff... it's not too much for the most beautiful gecko in the world... Both my husband and my employers are introducing the concept of intermittant employment, so we're feeling the pinch too.

I really like crested geckos, you probably can get a baby for about 40$ to start out with. They're just very cuddly.

Pretty pathetically, I currently just have a crested and a cat. I've got a bunch of other ones I want in mind, but they're all pretty hefty investments of time and money. Well, I guess I have my whole life to buy geckos, eh?

Cats are kept a bit like chameleons, if chameleons were nocturnal. Sounds a little strange, but it works. Once you get them acclimated, they're probably no tougher than house or day geckos. The whole problem is getting them used to captivity.

I should be drowning in baby Eryx, hopefully, in a few months here, if you're interested in getting one, email me and I can tell you what I'm expecting.

As another update, we had a bit of money saved up toward the Lucas cats, but since we had gecko on the brain we sort of went out and spend it on a female crested to go with our male. Oops! It probably wasn't half enough money, anyway, once you count in shipping, caging, and medical bills for even one new cat.

Yeah, that's the guy I got mine from.
I will have normal Kenyans, hopefully two litters. I'll probably be writing my own caresheet this year, but the more research you do the better if this is your first snake. Total cost with shipping will be somwhere between 65 and 85$, I'm estimating. If you email I can show you all sorts of pics of the parents and whatnot.

I was just at the Unique Animal Expo in Portland Oregon this weekend, they had tons of Eryx there. Saw a really cool anery one and an albino, though it looked more like a leucistic to me. Neat little snakes.

how hard is it to breed sand boas.im looking to get one that i will eventually be able to breed.im thinking of starting wiht some african house snakes as they breed readilly adn dont take any cycling.would it be better if i started out with these or went straight to sand boas.thanks
nick

meretseger Mar 01, 2004 06:13 PM

Sand boas breed like monkeys. Well, at least Kenyans do. Your problem will be finding somewhere to sell all the offspring.
