help with young taiwan...

hassanblacktail Feb 27, 2004 02:37 AM

Hey peoples; I have a question as I myself am new to keeping taiwans. Anyway I've had him about 3wks, he feeds lovely and is very tame also. My question is he seems to have a very fast metbalic rate(almost dry-like), and he wont use the heat pad or the area for that matter. He stays on the cooler side of his enclosure. Basically in a nut shell, I'd like some general info(care sheet-like), on taiwans and their closet realatives.
Thanx, Has

Hi Has,

As far as I am aware the temperatures for Taiwans should be about the same as for Russians,

See http://www.snakemuseum.com/ratsnake.htm for a care sheet.

Daytime temps should be around 75F (22-26C) dropping to 65F (18C) at night, don't allow the temperature to go above 85F (30C).

My Russian has the same temperature requirements, I use 40 watt spot bulb to give a basking spot of 80F and an ambient room temperature of 70F for the cool end.

Steve.
