REGURGITATION UPDATE 2>>>>>>>>>>>

cv768 Feb 27, 2004 11:12 AM

The little motley still hasn't touch a pinky head...

We try every 5 days now...no luck.

If I hover her just above her water...she sometimes will sip at it for quite sometime...I tried to mix some of the zoo med vitamin in her water (a small amount) maybe if she drinks next time the vitamins will give her a boost.

Any other advice??? It's been almost a month now since she regurged and hasn't eaten since. She seems really skinny and weak and is still very small (maybe two months old).

Thanks.

It really sucks to have to say this, but this sounds just like what happened to me in 2002 with a bloodred hatchling. She regurged then never ate again and died about 1 and a half months later.

Keep trying to get her going again, but start expecting the worst if you haven't already. I still had hopes for mine up until the end, but then one day I flip over her hide and she was belly up.

I hate to echo her, but I think she's right. Keep trying though, I managed to keep a regurger alive for a whole year, but now when I look back, I almost think living was torture for her. Once she got reall thin and weak, it was only a matter of days

Good luck.

See if you can get it to drink a little clear Pedialyte.

Good luck!

Once they become weak, with poor muscle tone, (or 'mushy' in the middle), the end is usually near.

The only hope, in my opinion, is to force feed a very small amount of food, preferably 1/2 - 1 cc of water and meat babyfood in a tube, but whatever can be fed, such as a pinkie head. When they are too far gone, that meal sometimes is what does them in, but it is quicker than starving to death, and might offer a small chance to save them. If she survives and is able to digest a couple of very small meals, there is some hope.

I have recently tried a probiotic product called NutriBac and feel that it has saved the life of at least one longterm regurger - you might give it a try.

Wish I could be more cheerful, but sometimes you can try everything and find out it just wasn't meant to be. Hope it works out ok.
