Changing glass doors to screen doors (pic)

all4sky Feb 27, 2004 11:13 AM

I want to use this enclosure thats been sitting around empty for about a year, and I was thinking about using it for a pair of chameleons. What would be the best way of changing those two front sliding glass doors into some type of screen doors? Also, does anyone know what other types of herps do well in this type of enclosure? Thanks for your time.

I know that wal mart sells screen window covers in the hardware section that are extendable. all you would have to do is find one that is closest in size to the opening of the enclosure. Fill in the gap(if any exist), and tack on one end, leaving the other end free for sliding open and closed..

Good luck

You never experience life until you have kids..then you realize what you should have done rather then what you did do

personally i like the sliding doors .. i would say go to the hardware store and either frame two new doors using appropriate thickness wood (probably 1/4" or cut out an opening in a sheet of plywood and screen that. i dont know if it would work but if so it would retain the sliding door aspect. other wise id say pull out the glass and track and just frame up one or two doors and hinge them. chances are you wont be able to find a direct fit screen window or something similar so you will probably have to make something. just for added consideration, there is two different kinds of screen metal and fabric (i think). i believe crickets can chew through the non metal type.
