New cham in town....

twinoats Feb 27, 2004 12:01 PM

Here is a great photo I got of a new lateralis female, recently acquired for my colony. She is still in quarantine at this point but is acclimating well. Usually at the sight of me she shows the usual gravid colors (the classic black-toned color that represents almost every printed picture of female lateralis) but here I caught her in somewhat more peaceful colors. (Note that I leave her alone as much as absolutely possible, however, as her species is much more hands-off than most species and considerably more difficult to keep, in my opinion).

What a cute little cham! Can you give me a quick rundown on where they are from, size, etc or a site where I can find the info?

Kerry,

That's the Carpet cham - right (aka Jewel)? I'll tell you, many think that the male chams are so pretty with all their vibrant colors, but personally I think there is an understated beauty to female chams (as with all of us females - our beauty is sometimes under appreciated - yes, guys, take a heads up here! )

How old is she? Looks young. Now I know why they are called Jeweled Chameleons! Just lovely! Thanks for posting
