Stunted Growth?

MattP Feb 27, 2004 02:27 PM

Hi, one my females was bred to my male when she was about 7 months old (she's about 10 months old now) and now she's not as big as her sisters. Her sisters are well over 50 grams and she's around 40 grams. Does anyone know if she'll catch up to her sisters and how long it will take? I always keep a full dish of Superworms and a full dish of calcium/vitamins for all of my geckos.

Thanks, Matt

She will never be the same size as her siblings. I have seen this happen before and heard many cases of it. Females bred too early, before they have achieved their maximum weight and length end up small. Now she might be able to gain some weight but most likely she will stay at 40 grams. This could also hinder her for future breeding because of her weight. I would recommend never breeding this female again because it might just be too much for her in the future. Take care and hope this helps.
