RES Swimming Sideways HELP ASAP!!!!

demunchkin Feb 27, 2004 05:47 PM

When we came home today, our three inch RES was swimming sideways. He seemed to have all his energy, but it looked like it was frustrating him. All of his legs seem to be moving okay.

One thing that might have caused the problem is he ate a really large placo yesterday. We came home, and it was gone. Would that have caused it? He hasn't crapped since he ate it, as far as I can tell.

Please tell me if there is anything I can do.

Thanks,
Devin

Well, he's still in the land of the living this morning. We noticed last night and this morning that he's basking a lot more than he usually does. He's still swimming tilted, but it doesn't seem to be at such an extreme angle today. Do you think it may be a coincidence that he ate the placo, and he has a respitory infection instead?

I suppose it's possible that he has gas, and that could cause the tilting, but a respiratory infection is a serious posibility. A vet could do an x-ray to tell for sure. If so, a round of antibiotics would be a good idea.
