Travel/sunning cage recommendations please

shopaholic Feb 27, 2004 10:30 PM

Hi: What is a good travel cage to use? I wish to have one for both transporting to the vet, and one to use to take my Cham outside for a little sun. I don't want to just hold him on my hand because he is still kind of skittish and I worry that he'll escape. Would a small bird cage work(course big enough to put a little plant inside)? Thanks-Maggie

For a trip to the vet, use an insulated cooler with a towel for him to hold onto.

For sunning, it really depends on how long he'll be out there but it's best to have a real cage with the regular climbing surfaces and lots opf foliage so he can regulate his own exposure. Get a cheap Reptarium. Personally I don't like them as regular cages but they're fine of this purpose.

sorry but may i ask if you have an accually chameleon??
how can you worry about them excaping from you hand?? You may have an anole but i have seen you on this forum before.

I just dont get how a cham would be skitish enough to be able to move fast enough that you wouldn't notice him get off your hand.....i know anoles and jump and suddly they are gone inthe grass but chams sor tof stick out...

sorry not to mean i was just wondering

btw ilove reptariums....you can just pickem up and take outsid ewithout really disturbing the cham too much!!

Yeah, I actually have a nice Panther that is about eight months old from Kammerflage Kreations(haven't gotten around to posting a picture, still learning how to use my digital camera!). He is definately not an Anole . He is quite skittish. By this I do not mean that I would worry about him running away too fast to be caught. I worry that he may get hurt if he were to take a jump from being scared, and though too slow to get away unoticed, I just don't want to risk an injury from a fall...I should have been clearer. I may have to try the reptarium. Thanks for the suggestion.
