Cuttlebone

Dillon4203 Feb 09, 2003 06:59 PM

I have some cuttle bone for my baby turtles, they are only about 1 1/2 - 2 inches. the cuttle bone I have just taken about 3 inch strips of it and letting it float, now would it be alright if I took it and made it the size that the turtles could grab it and then swallow it. I would make it about the size of one of the food pellets. Thanks

Remember to peal off the hard backing before placing it in the tank

as long as you remove the backing, the size of the chunk of bone you leave floating is not really important. Even little turtles will gnaw on a big hunk once the know what it is. The benefit to a smaller chunk will be that it is gone before it is covered in algae and such, so it will be less likely to become an eyesore.
