i was wondering if i should feed my ball python...last week i tried with a fresh killed mouse, im thinking it was too small and he has possibly been fed rats so he was not interested? im sure it was a number of things. One- when i first got him home he was very stressed from the person at the pet store and it was his first time being out. also i took him out and handled him for a bit and he was extremely calm, throughout his first few days everytime he would see me, he would study me as he moves around and sometimes just sit and stare and when he was out, he was moving towards both me and my brother. And after a minute of being out, he just sat and relaxed on our lap, this wasnt him being stressed was it?
he was still moving around but we werent holding him and gave him the option to roam the room freely and he did but still sat with us. i tried to feed him in a bin out of his cage and i think that might have been a factor as well.
Another thing, his checkerboard style pattern on his belly is light blue and the past few nights i have seen him in one of his water dishes. His temps are 88-92 sometimes a bit lower in the warm and 80-83 in the cool and with the light out it gets to its lowest at 78 at night in the cool. Humidity is at 45-50% day time in the warm, 50-53 in the cool in day, and 56-60 at night do u think he is going into shed? or was stressed being out when he was just chillin? i thought they balled up? anyway maybe i am worrying too much, i will watch for signs of shed (milky eyes) i think he might be goin into shed though, thanks for the help in advance
Chuck
