HELP: Mold on AFT eggs, what to do?

crazycreations Feb 28, 2004 12:26 PM

I just checked on my ATF eggs today and one of my clutches has mold on it. I gently scraped the mold off, and then I candled the eggs, one is a dud and the other is fertile. What should I do to keep the mold from coming back? I have heard you should wash them in a certain chemical, but I can’t remember which one. Thanks, your help and comments are greatly appreciated, and the baby geckos thank you.

Take a paper towel and cover a piece in hydrogen peroxide. Squeeze it dry and wipe the eggs with it until the mold is gone. Get fresh incubation medium and add less water. Along with the drier medium you can place a jar lid with water to add humidity to the air and not just moisten the eggs. Keep the temperature at a recommended temp., but it is obviously a little too low.

Thanks for the info. The temperature in my incubator is 88 degrees, is that to low? Because that is what I have always used and it works nicely.
