the dimensions are 120cmX120c.X60cm (47inX47inX24in), i made it from glass case and it cost almost nothing...just the silicon to fill holes, lamps and fake grass on the bottom floor!
on the middle floor is the real grass growing, to keep humidity high enough!
arboreal is because it was already built!and of course that OZ has enough place to climb and shoose a place to be!temp gradient and stuff!

thanks!i use digital termometer with humidity meter as well!you can see it on the branch behind a leaf!little white one!so if i want to know the temps of the bottom floor, i simply move it to the bottom!

i don't have humid hide...i grow grass in there so the grass keeps the humidity high enough and of course humid earth!i spray water once a day all acroos the tank!
humidity is around 60% but as far as i know balls like dry air and is better for them.it's good to have high humidity when they are in shed process!

Has he gone through a shed in there yet? I am thinking the 60% humidity is either temporary(for an hour after you mist the cage) or isolated(right near the grass). I would still put in a humid hide.

yes he was in shed 1 week ago!
well if you look it that way, i'm going to put another hideout near grass, so this will be his humid hide!but i must wait till it grows strong enough!
please correct me if i'm wrong with saying that BP like dry air more than very humid one?!

First seal off some of those airholes with tape (on the outside of cage). Then if the humidity still isn't high enough put a small aquarium air pump with the tubing and put the tubing that is attached to airstone in the water bowl.

those on the back side aren't really holes!it just looks like that!
humidity is 60%, i checked 5 min ago.
and that is a good idea with pump!

Very interesting cage!

Okay, I'm going to give a quick list of things I think the snake will potentially create a problem with:

1. The heat lamp: Is it secured? If not, it needs to be mounted and a wire cage built and mounted around it. It's highly probable in my opinion that the snake will wrap around the bulb at some point one evening and when the lights come on, well, bad things...

2. The Fluorescent fixture needs to be covered too. It's once again my belief that the snake will wedge itself between the fixture and the bulb with possible health consequences.

3. The Pothos makes for a nice green effect in cages, but the snake will likely 'trample' it or even break the stems attempting to climb on it.

4. Is there a heat source under the hide boxes? If not, it's possible that the snake could get too cool for too long and result in respiratory ailments. If the snake is too shy to come out and bask (a lot of Ball Pythons are), then make sure it can heat up with a proper heat pad or panel.

Best of luck with all of it! Just trying to relay some constructive ideas and opinions and prevent any problems for your snake. I tried a LOT of cage ideas many years ago (before I switched to a large rack system) and learned that most snakes WILL put themselves in harms way EVERY time!

thanks for all comments!
i know that the bulb needs to be secured, that is the last thing i need to do!
tank has 2 undertank heaters , so Oz can heat his belly on the down floor, on the upper floor is around 30C, 90F!
he is not able to get to UV light cause i've been watching him trying but he almost fell!he's not big enough yet!
that bulb has been there for 6 months and he never tried to get there!
anything else to comment?please tell me!

I would still cover them both NOW. They are the most dangerous things in there. If you wait you are likely to come in some day to a blown bulb, shards of glass in your snake or the whole wreck in the bottom of the cage and cuts and broke snake. OR a bad burn...the heat bulb is several hundred degrees....I am honestly surprised it hasn't singed the wall. Let alone what it will do when your snake does reach.
I personally don't like the distances. Meaning, if he is up and falls he can fall a long way. If I had to use this enclosure I would put in another shelf to 'break' a fall.

i will, but i can't find any good material to secure it with!if i use metal it will also get very hot, plastic is not good either!
what do you suggest?

I think I can understand why you can't get one at bigapple and how you may not have the resources to build one yourself. This site is real easy...

Your setup is really neat looking, but it is pretty much a death trap for your snake right now. It's a bad idea to give your ball python the choice to climb 3 feet in the air. It's a bad idea to have a bare bulb inside the enclosure. Keeping natural grass in the enclosure looks really good, but will become unsanitary when your bp urates on it even once. A ball python is going to get hurt in there.....someday.

samoID Mar 01, 2004 07:34 AM

today i bought an infra red bulb!240W i think!my friend needs to bring it to me!next weekend i will make another shelf or put another branch in there so it will be less possible for snake to fall!
but my primary obj is to secure that bulb!i'll do what i can to find the right thing to secure it!
thanks for your negative opinions...they will make me do this tank better!

Maybe build a shelf that completely divides the enclosure into two seperate halves....upper and lower. That wyould still give plenty of room for your snake, it'd be much safer....eliminating the clumsy falling.....and you'd actually have room for another ball python that lives in the "upstairs apartment"!!!

samoID Mar 01, 2004 12:41 PM

good idea!i mean both of them, but there is problem with buying another BP...my father!he's not really snake lover and i also have Uro in my room!
but i will surely think about dividing tank into 2 sections!
i already replaced normal bulb with 250W red bulb which is far more warmer than the old one!and i moved it directly in the middle of tank ceiling, so Oz can't reach it now!
temps are much better now! now i must find good material to secure 60cm lights (UV and sun light)on the ceiling!

Seriously....something is wrong with you. That's a beautiful setup u got there. COVER THE FREAKIN BULBS!!!! and get a GREEN TREE PYTHON!! Are you deaf?

jaydaddy_26 Mar 01, 2004 10:04 PM

I would just like to know why, after all the times you posted about your tank, and been told, why you still have that exposed bulb inside the tank? They sell bulb covers for between 6 and 20 dollars. how would you feel if your snake got really badly burnt on it? especially knowing it could be prevented for just a few dollars.
Other than that I like your setup, except that I worry that you may have a problem with keeping up the heat as well as the humidity in something that size... good luck

I agree......don't ever take for granted that something is not going to happen. I mean, how many times do you hear people talk about an escape and they just never thought it was possible with their setup.

Someone gave you a site you can order from...please do so.
