Aggressive BP? Help!

taloha19 Feb 28, 2004 05:52 PM

I've only had her for about a week. She's been very calm and friendly up until yesterday. Thursday she went to the vet for a little checkup. Not too stressful for her. They didn't do much poking or anything. Came home, she ate two live mice. Yesterday (Friday) afternoon, I needed to clean out her cage, so I moved her hide and she looked at me like she was going to eat me, so I pulled my hand out and she struck the glass. Today I took her out, but she didn't want to be held too much and was still a little attidude. What could the problem be? Reason I've thought of:
1. She thinks my hand is food
2. She just doesn't want to be bothered because she is still digesting her meal
3. She just decided that she doesn't like me

Another question, can snakes sense when women are menstrating? I know that is a personal question, but I was just curious. Thanks!

Wellllllll-
I would have to say that it sounds like she is eating good for you and got a clean bill of health, but im thinking that you havent let her settle in good and be comfortable in her new home, or that she is in shed. As far as snakes sensing when its that time of the month i doubt it but i wouldnt be surprised if it was other wise, Balls are really great pets, but i would say that she has had a stressful few days, getting a new home and a trip to the vet thats already 3 rides in the car plus then a feeding where they wont want to be touched for about 24 hours after words, but i would say that your best bet is that her eyes are going to cloud over and she will be in shed, as for the striking, you need to just pick up the hide and then pick her up, dont give her a chance to bite and once shes off the ground and in your hand i bet she'll be fine. I am working on a theory with my boas and balls, but more for my aggressive boas that if i pick up there hide and immediately place my hand over there head and then pick them up that it seems to calm them down, i havent been bit since imply this trick... Id love to have you test it and see what happens, if you are scared try some garden gloves although balls can't bit hard its still a fast movement and it is just more scary then painful... anyways if you have anymore questions please feel free to email me and ill answer it right away.... take care and check those eyes..

Sincerley,
Rose Hipskind
