There is a Great web site on carpet pythons that will tell you everything....www.acreptiles.com Anthony Caponetto has the BEST info I've found on carpet pythons.
I have a yearling I bought for $180, (they were selling her for $220 but have had her for a couple months) at a reptile/fish store. She is a great pet. Tried to bite me once but that was my fault. I have mine in a 40 gallon breeder size tank with Under the tank heating and basking light. Night time she has a red light to help with heating. She is doing great. I mist her and the tank when she is going into shedding. She is eating small rats.
Also she has a couple hiding boxes and climbing branches. I wanted a snake that was big (6-8 feet long but not big around) but not to big (10 foot plus big around).

I don't think so. You have less humidity requirements for the most part and as long as you get a well started youngster they tend to be pretty Hardy. I'd also recomend you look at Anthony Caponet's care sheet for particular care requirements.

Depends, Irian Jayas don't usually go for less than $100. Again if you decide to get a hatchling get one that is well started and feeding regularly as IJ can sometimes have feeding issues when they're young. Make sure to keep them feeding on rats as they can get stuck on a certain prey item just like BP.
