Which color of a boa would make more money?

clownloach Feb 28, 2004 07:56 PM

Hi,

I was wondering would an orange boa be in more demand than a pink boa, or would a red boa bring in more money? If I was to breed a high pink with an orange, would a red boa come out? Too bad there is not a CD rom that will show the different morphisis of boas when you breed them. It seems like the python people has got this market cornered.

I think if your interested in breeding Boas you should settle upon a pair that you personally like, colors that is that appeal to you. The biggest reward in breeding in my opinion comes not from the monetary gain but the pride in knowing you've cared well enough for your boas that they do reproduce and that you have created little boas that you like personally. I would gladly keep every boa I have ever produced simply because they resemble the animals that encouraged me to breed them to begin with. The only reason I even sell my offspring is to generate funds to balance out the costs spent supporting my hobby.
From afar I think it is easy to view the reptile market as one based on money, but I think every person who is actually successful at it (excluding importers) is successful because they have a love and dedication to their Reptiles first and foremost....again, my 2 cents.
Best wishes.
