Shedding Question

raynidays Jun 10, 2003 07:54 AM

I had posted previously that Indigo has been eating everything offered to her. She has more become quite the little fatty over the last few weeks.

She began to shed a couple of days ago and the shed is coming off in pieces. Her sheds are normally great and the only thing I have changed is the amount of food I offer her.

Is it possible that she is having difficulty shedding because of the fast weight gain? Would it be harmful if I helped remove the extra pieces of shed by hand?

Thanks!
Rayni

I don't think her growth is the issue. Sometimes they just go through a bad shed. I would use a "sweat box" to remove the remaining shed.

1) Take one snake and put inside a damp pillow case.
2) Put the pillow case and snake in a ventilated rubbermaid container. My container is heated on one end.
3) Leave for about one hour. 10 times out of 10, all the skin is off.
