Need a Sceloporus

saddleman Feb 28, 2004 09:22 PM

A "FRIEND" of mine sent me a trio of baby Alterna, either because he is such a good freind or because they are not feeding. I need a Sceloporus to scent some pinks, if you have an extra, I will be glad to buy it or some. I am afraid I will need it or them soon so if you can help, I would apreciate it.

Thanks Rick

If someone gave you 3 alterna they are your friend regardless of the snake's feeding habits. On Sceloporus:
Where do you live? You may be able to find some. Also, you may have other lizards in your area that are also okay for scenting, like Uta lizards or Med geckos. You could also try a baby Scincella ground skink. If the area you live in is an ice barren lizardless waste right now you could try and get a dead frozen Sceloporus or Uta from a friend.

Yes I can use lizards from this area, due to weather, they will not start to show up for three or four weeks. And yes I was hoping to find a frozen one from someone who had an extra. Thanks for your response.

mice. If obtainable, these have worked faster ( I guess that you want to change the alterna over to mice ) sometimes than keeping the alterna on lizards. Way back in years , i had to buy some sceloporus from cal zoo or glades to feed and switch over alterna. In my opinion though, it was just as fast being able to obtain the peromyscus mice from another animal place. Warning....niether lizard or mouse was cheap on cost and shipping.

Thanks for the reply. I have used K rats and other wild species when I lived in Big Bend and they were easy to come by. Since you metioned it I have seen Sceloporus on Glads price list, I will try them. Two of them finaly fed today, only one hold out remains.
Thanks for the advice.
