Oregon Cal Kings

BBBruno Feb 28, 2004 09:35 PM

Several years ago, I was fortunate in obtaining Cal Kings from Oregon Stock. They grew into gorgeous animals, black with thin yellow bands. I bred them in 2001; they sold, but not well, and in 2002, I could not give them away. Last year,I chose not to breed them at all. I thought at very least, with so many folks breeding Cals, that this could represent fresh genes to introduce into their stock. Question: as I bring up my stock today, does anyone have an interest in these animals? If no one is, I'll not breed them again.

I'm hoping to get a new computer system soon. This one is old, and the scanner doesn't work anymore. Once I modernize, I will post photos of these animals.

I would be interested in Oregon Cal kings. Most peoiple just go by the look of a cal king and not the locality. If you probably advertised them on KS classifieds you might find the people who are looking for such a thing. Some of us can appreciate the subtle differences of locality cal kings. Certainly is unusual to produce these in the hobby and I think you should breed them again. The local pet crowd would not care for locality cal kings because they have not been around the hobby long enough to appreciate it.
Are you sure they come from behind the Oregon line? Because they do not reach very far into Oregon and that is their northern most range.

Hmm, Oregon Cal King? That would be kinda neat to have I think, since I'm from Oregon. I couldn't get it for about 5 years or so though, my parents don't want me to get another reptile until I move out, lol.

Of course I'm sure! I know the person who collected the adults, and where he collected them so many years ago. I work harder than anyone else, that's how I get cool critters like these.

They actually get quite a ways into Oregon. I found one near Roseberg just off Interstate 5 a couple years ago. This is about as far as the zonata get in the state. I'm not sure how far east and west they get though.
