Question about Lighting with albinos?????

Tumtum03 Jun 10, 2003 08:27 AM

I've had leos before, just never an albino before. I got it from a pet store, it was in real bad shape(they had it in with a two panther geckos twice it size, so they beat it up pretty good, bit its tail in half and it had bite marks all over it) My question is what kind of lighting can I use on him? It seems like no matter what kind of light I use it hurts its eyes. Any insight would be nice!!!

Well.. since UV light is not needed.... that takes the big problem out. I use UTH or heat tape for my leos.. with just a low wattage incandescent light.. but.. thats mainly just for me. You could also use infrared lights if you so desire. Do you have enough hides for the leos? I can't remember the last time I saw mine during the day.. hehee

my rainwater albino does not really seem to care for any light at all. He squints all the time unless it is fairly dark. He lays out in the light alot just keeps his eyes closed. I use UTH. If you heat with bulbs I would say use a red light.
