Can you tell which sex this is.

whatever it is, it looks male to me.

It appears to be female to me, check this diagram, it gives you an idea of what to look for when sexing snakes.

I agree with oldherper. The bulge right past the anal plate would suggest that it is male. Andy

Sorry to confuse matters, but that looks like a girl to me as well. There is a slight bulge past the vent, but the bulge tapers off immediately. That is very characteristic of female snakes (particularly garters and kings). Males will have a similar bulge, but it will continue further down the tail.

The length of the tail varies between species, but based on that picture, I would have to guess female.

Right now the vote is even...two for male, two for female. Maybe if cvonrosen will post more info, the mystery will be solved...

Still say the tail looks awfully long for a female and the taper and (what may be) hemipenal bulges looks right to me for a male....I dunno...my probe just keeps sliding across the monitor screen.

Posting the actual length should help a bit too...Andy
