I agree whole heartedly...these guys can make a buck hacking snakes because ks(which is arguably the largest reptile market on the net) won't take a stand against venomoids. But it's not just ks's fault...it's the buyers. I've talked to and seen people who DO KEEP HOT SNAKES buying venomoids...why???? Not for education shows, at least the ones i talked to...When I asked why, the answer was always "well, it's a nice snake, i've wanted one for a while" but they always skirted "Why get a venomoid and not an intact animal?" If you keep hots, then you should have no problem with a hot snake...makes me wonder. I also wonder how many "secret venomoid owners" there are, that is, they buy a venomoid cobra, but don't tell their friends so their friends think they're cool because they can wrangle their cobra and not get bitten, etc...This whole practice makes me nauseus...There are so many beautiful NON-VENOMOUS out there, if you don't feel you can handle a dangerous or potentially lethal animal, get a non-venomous! It's really that simple...But unfortunately, I think we are fighting a losing battle...until there is actually enforcement of laws regarding venomoid surgery, and unless KS actually tries to put a stop to the selling of garage hacks, there will ALWAYS be a market for them. Looking on KS classifieds yesterday, there was an ad posted that was ALL VENOMOIDS! About 15 or so of them! "All snakes have had surgery at least 6 weeks ago, and had their first shed"...wow, so you let the scars heal a bit and took out the stitches so you don't look like your selling Frankenstein's Monocle Cobra...jeez, i agree with MsTT, i don't look down on venomoid snakes, I look down on the people that make them that way.
