OT New addition ... Rescue I went and picked out yesterday.

beginnersbasics Feb 29, 2004 08:09 AM

This is something I wanted to do for quite some time now and I finally did it! I went and rescued an Iguana

She is so sweet and curious and is about 1 1/2 years old. I built her a HUGE cage on my porch and she took right to it. Didn't bother hiding at all and just went exploring LOL

Well, here she is .....

Lisa,
Beautiful Iggie...I see you finished the cage. Are you certain it is a female, it seems to have a hemipenile bulge at the base of the tail?
good luck

No, not certain. I am going on the rescue's "best guess" LOL

I need to come up with a name that would suit either sex though.

She looks fairly good size also for a 1.5 year old. Congrats, you will enjoy here, we have one that is 5 foot now and a big sweetie!

Thanks Cheri
I am sure I will enjoy her
The rescue keeps trying to talk me into taking their "over flow" in LOL .... I am not sure I want to take that step yet. It is a lot of responsibility and you always have to consider that they may be with you forever since it is sometimes hard to find the right adoptive family.

I can just imagine my husband coming home from work one day and finding a dozen Igs caged in the back yard LOL

have considered it many times. I know I will have one someday(definately a rescue!! Shame on Ig breeders!), but probably after I retire and my office is "officially" turned into a reptile room. Right now I still need to have a desk in there !

I'm so glad you decided to get her. She has such a sweet face and I'm glad she's friendly. I've had the opportunity to rescue igs before but I have a friend that rescues mainly igs so I haven't had to take any in yet. As soon as we can get a bigger place I'd love to get some large cages set up for rescued igs.

Way to go! I'm glad you got her and are so happy with her. She looks very content. Keep us updated on how she does.
