Petstore cruelty!!!! NEED help!

pocketfulloffire Feb 29, 2004 10:38 AM

Ok i went to petco the other day to get some crickets so i decided to check on some of the reptiles and as one of the guys that work there lifted up a hide there was a baby leo under there dead completly smashed then i saw some dead anoles in the next tank and almost all the ones that were alive had noticable bite marks on them(there were 27 that i counted in the tank) then i noticed they had ordered 3 blue tongue skinks they were about mid sized and they were all being kept in the same enclosure which was only about two feet long one of them looked like it had a broken leg and the other two had bite marks on them, then there were 2 chinese water dragons in a tank about 1 and a half foot long they looked almost full grown.

Does anyone know who i can contact to report this? By the way i live in northern indiana.

I usually call Animal Control (usually associated with the police Dept). I have heard and found that a written complaint explaining what you saw, gets a more serious investigation.

I always add infor in a written complaint. "Iceburg lettuce with carrots is not an acceptable diet" Crickets should be no larger than the space between the eyses,..."

Hi, I just sent some instructions off-line on reporting abuse to the authorities.

A complaint can also be sent to the CEO of Petco via www.planetfeedback.com Please check the box that lets the message be public, so that other people can know this is not a an isolated incident.

I would report it to Petco corporate offices. They take their husbandry very seriously and suspect that corporate will do something about it. ( I hope)

Did you ever contact anyone? If so, what happened? By the way, if that store is selling red-eared sliders, give your DNR a call - it's illegal to sell sliders in Indiana!
