need to put weight on my girl!

TAloha19 Feb 29, 2004 04:05 PM

My vet said she's too thin, and I noticed that she was as well. She is currently eating 2 mice every 7 days. How would I put more weight on her? More mice every 7 days, or wait until the two go through her and feed 2 more?

The best way to put some more weight on her would be feed her small rats or rat crawlers. They are about the size of an adult mouse but are pack with way more nutrients than a mouse of the same size. Good luck!

check out the pro exotics faq on switching from mice to rats.

...and exactly where did you derive your information concerning the nutritional content of prey items to make such a statement?

It is proven. Ask any reputable breeder of ball pythons out there and they will tell you. I raised balls from hatchlings and the ones that ate rats out grew and hit sexual maturity faster than the ones that ate mice.
