Confused ball python?Need help qiuck!

sandfireman Feb 29, 2004 05:27 PM

hey guyz...
Today i went to get a mouse for my ballpython. She was going through one of those not eating phases all this winter. Shes been alot more active lately and is always on the prowl. I have been tryin to get her to eat for a while and she shows no interest. But with the mouse i got today ( it was a live mouse) she would move her ahead fast and follow the mouse. Then she would approach it, like she was going to eat it, then flick her toungue out, almost touchin the mouse, but then kinda back away. The mouse is perfect size for her to eat, and its white. Do you think she could be confused that it is food. Should i try with rats, or gerbils or a different color?! PLease help me figure this one out. Thanks.....Chris

one don't feed live. go to proexotics.com and check out the feeding FT/prekiled prey FAQ. Don't worry as long as she hasn't lost a lot of weight it doesn't really matter. Try again next week.

roachey, have you ever had a bp go off feed? one of the simplest ways is to give it a live rodent.

She's at the point where she's interested, but not quite there. Perhaps try her tonite in subdued light. Yes another food item could make the diff, but she'll probably go for what she WAS eating before the fast, any day now. Try a dark-colored mouse tonite. SJM
