Urgent Savannah monitor questions??

mutant Feb 29, 2004 06:32 PM

Might be a dumb Qu, but when care sheets list the adult size as 3.5-4.5 feet long, does that include tail or not? Sorry if this seems like a stupid question. Also, my tank is 4.5' x 3' x 2' (LxDxH) and i have been told by a lot of people that this is large enough for a single adult savannah, is this correct (the people who told me it would be ok all keep or have kept boscs in the past) - its 200 gallons if that helps.

Thanks in advance.

Lee

Thats counting the tail but there are exceptions and you may get one bigger.

Thats not a bad size cage, if you feel it is outgrowing it though in the future you will want to give him more room. You can never go to big only to small.

Your kidding right?

4.5'x3'x2' is not big enought for an Adult Sav. If the sav. was 4.5' long, and the cage is 4.5' long, then it wouldn't be able to move anywhere to thermoregulate. 6'x'3'x' is prob the bear minimum. A good size is 8x4x4.

It may be ok for a juvi sav. for about 4 months or so.

Did you not understand me Is not a bad size, if you feel it is outgrowing it change it.

As in make your own decisions, to many onhere are quick to tell others what to do, if you always do that do they learn? or do they just come here for me to set there animals up for them?

Not every sav will be 4.5 foot that is why I said if it outgrows it switch it. I am not there I dont have his sav. and niether do you. So don't be so boneheaded my friend.

Hey

That is the biggest tank i have at the mo, and was advised by a few keepers that an AVERAGE size bosc would be ok in this size viv. If it outgrows it of course i would get a bigger one. I would have thought though that much of the size was the tail? Hence the viv doesnt seem too small if it only reaches average size. Thanks to you JPShadow for the courteous reply, the other guy seems the typical kingsnake member (too quick to show off their experience and belittle others).

Keeping the bosc will be a learning curve, but one i will enjoy.
