O.K. first i would like to start off by saying, I'm and idiot. Yesterday while feeding my res i dumped WAY to much food in. Being the moron that i am i figured the filters would take care of the problem. Well now its one day later and my whole house smells like crap. I think the food just rotted or something because my whole house now smells wrotten. i did a 3/4 water change and cleaned the filters and filter components but it still stinks. Tommorow i am going to remove all the gravel from the tank and hopefully that will get rid of the smell. Does any body know what caused the food to smell so horrible please reply.

. IF you were working with a fish tank you could worry about nitrite bildup but RES's dont seem too too affected by that. Depends on the type of food as to why the smell got so bad. Also, how long has it been since you cleaned the tank, and how old is your biological filter media? Just some things to check. -Chris
