kinda a bad pic but there is a sotry behind it.

well i picked up a taiwan beauty the other day. He seems to not leave his branches. he basically sleeps on the damn things. So...i decided to build a cage today kinda arboreal but when its all set up i'll take some more pictures. There will be an intake and an exhaust fan on the sides. The inside will have a ledge with a hide on it. Been thinkin alot about types of green stuff to add. Anyone care to help me out there?

I believe taiwans need more floor place.... you should flip it. Like, horizontal rather than verticle. I do not remember if you posted demensions to that cage, but I think a good size for an adult is 4ft long, by 2ft wide, by 2ft deep. This way you have enough floor space and also you can add some huge branches to let them chill at the top.

I mean, do you want to see your taiwan curled up all the time? From my experience they are semi-arboreol, but mainly terrestrial. I love to see mine stretched out, they are so beautiful. As a hatchling, mine would be more at the top of the cage when offered things to climb on, but now as an adult she is much more terrestrial. That is just my opinion. Post some pics of your taiwan.

I kind of designed it so it could be used as either and it is
4x2x2 so good deal. I dunno just seems like he's always on his branches curled up. Then again he's only a baby heh we'll see below not really a good pic. It will do till I get a better one.

I would lay it down and take advantage of more floor space.
Just my opinion.

I would've left the cage in a vertical position. I think too many people are thinking of these snakes still as some Asian version of a Cornsnake. They are highly arboreal and if you handle yours enough you'll note the tail is very prehensile. I keep two adults over six feet long each, and they're housed separately in cages that measure 72" high by 29" wide by 29" deep. There is ample floor space for them to curl up and plenty of branches as well as a large hanging planter in each that allows them to bask/hide near the top of the cage closer to the heat source. They have always been highly active and spend much of every day cruising from branch to branch. What is really cool is feeding them a large rat while they're hanging from a branch. They'll constrict it and eat while hanging from the branch or sometimes will actually pull the rat up into the upper hide spot to eat. Fascinating snakes!
