Feeding 3 months old Chameleon.. confused!!

gabrielmtl Jun 10, 2003 10:31 AM

Hi,

I have a 3 months old vield, male. I have a bit of a problem... see here, where I live, when I talk to vets or other keepers, we speak french. And now I am a bit confused about something... Mealworms, or mealies, are those redish worms that are pretty small and cheap? And THOSE worms I shouldnt feed too much to my chame... right??

thanks in advance!

The best way to avoid confusion is to use the Latin name for mealworms...the genus is Tenebrio. The other worm that is often used is Zoophobas. These are larger, but look quite similar. You should not use mealworms as the main staple food as they contain too much chitin, are fatty, and are a bit harder to gutload properly.
