Ridleyii Question

scottofhouston Mar 01, 2004 01:15 PM

About a month and a half ago, two of my Ridleyii some how escaped. The male turned up on a glue trap this past Saturday. The snake is still very fat and healthy looking and has the same agressive disposition as always. The snake seems healthy and is acting normal, toungue flicking and all but the snake is making a wheezing sound as it breathes sometimes. It sounds like the beginning of a possible respritory infection to me. I am very low on money as of now. What steps do you think need to be taken ?

Do not have a lot to suggest, save that do everything you can to keep the fellow's stress levels as low as possible. Another thing, to help his immune system fight the infection if he has one, raise his ambient temperature to around 82 degrees. One of our snakes developed similar symptoms after an 'outing' and keeping him warmer did seem to help him recover.

That is all I can suggest for when things are tight for you, know only too well how that goes. Warmth and quiet is well worth trying.

I wish you the best of luck with him. I hope he gets better soon.
