Does anyone use a blacklight for heating/lighting for their herp? day, night, all the time?
When i leave it on at night my snake seems to like "basking" under it. Is this bad? I know she knows her own safe temperature range so she wouldn't let herself overheat.
the blacklight offers a nighttime temperature range that's the same as the daytime. Is this not good? Would i be advised not to offer the same temps at night as i do during the day?
by the way...
I have a coastal carpet python and had been using an incandescent light bulb for daytime light/heat and a uth for nightime heat. Last week, however, i noticed that petsmart was selling a blacklight for night time illumination/heat for reptiles. Now, they were selling "special" 75 watt blacklight lightbulbs (um... bullsh*t?) for five bucks a pop, so i went across the street to Lowes and bought a pair for a dollar each. I then switched out my incadescent bulb that night for my blacklight bulb. I've had to unplug my uth due to it shorting.
I know this is a long post, i'm just curious and i apologise if i rambled

(i know i posted twice but i just wanted to hear from the python people, who might not read that forum)
