i haven't found that much info on feeding baby dragons, i have a few questions

trevorbennett Mar 01, 2004 05:07 PM

ok,
i wanna try and get my dragons onto a cricket free diet. feeding them pelletts and their greens mix.

if i were to offer this, would i have to feed them 3 times a day? or just switch it have way through the day? will most take this mix from the beggining or would i have to start them on crix? i have been told it's better if they never even see any crix at all...so i'm guessing that that means i just offer them the green and pellets mix and thats it for food? except for the occational waxie ori guess cricket?

any help or input on whether or not to try this would be greatly appreciated. or just any input on feeding hatchlings in general wouuld be great. thanx!!!

hi, for hatchlings...well it is important for them to get a lot of protien at this important time of their life. What i'm saying is that your hatchlings should have crickets everyday (dusted) with greens either every other day or max of every 3 days.

please check out my website, it gives some info of feeding all aged bearded dragons.

Lisa has successfully raised cricket free babies and give a good feeding schedule on her care sheet. Here's the link...

Beginners Basics Dragon Care

I hope your eggs are developing nicely and I hope the old incubator is working well for you. I can't wait to see baby beardies! I ordered Juvenile Rep Cal pellets from www.reptiledirect.com ( Rep Cal pellets) last year and my beardies love them. It's only $11.96 for a 5 pound bag plus shipping. You might want to order them soon if you're interested in raising cricket free beardies.

I'll have to come by when you're feeling better and see the eggs.

Doug didn't really have much to say that was very helpful about treating Houdini. I've talked to 4 "reptile experts" and they are all stumped. They all tell me the same thing though ... get a blood test. But I can't. The vet says he's way too small to get enough blood to do blood work on. So, we're back on square one. We're praying and hoping for that miracle to save him. Wish I had better news for you but it doesn't look to be in Houdini's favor.

thats terrible!!!! hopefully that miracle does find you in time. it would be really hard to get enough blood out of him to do a blood test on....plus in his condition he might not make it after losing that much blood. i'm really sorry to hear that.

hope things get better.

... not knowing anything. It's driving me crazy. No one can tell me anything about what's wrong with him. Not a thing. Ohhh, it's so depressing. I could handle it much better if I knew something, like if he had some kind of birth defect or untreatable virus, as least I would know if it was treatable or not. Sometimes not knowing causes just as much pain as loosing the reptile.
