i have a female alli snapper who is a year old..i bought her when she was just a hatchling...first of all i am wondering how rapidly these guys grow..i have had experience with snappers but none have grown this fast.. a year old and already 8 inches plus...she has always been a very healthy eater..i might have even kept her a little over weight..i just recently upgraded her from a 55 gallon tank to a small garden pond i keep indoors..since the move she hasnt been very active and hasnt eaten. nothing is different about how i set her enclosure up.temp is the same..around 82-85..its just bigger..i even used the same decorations..she ate some turkey the first night she was in..but hasnt eaten since..its been 5 days now..i am getting worried..she rarely has ever refused a meal and if she didnt eat the first try she always ate the next..the next step would be taking her to a vet..but i would really like to overcome this myself..also she still seems a little fat..could she simply not be hungry? how long could she go with out a feed?so many questions i know...ive never had to deal with this problem with my snappers.any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.... Thomas

my common acted like that when I upgraded his cage just a couple of weeks ago. He stopped eating for a few days while he got adjusted. I put put crayfish (his absolute favorite food) in there a couple of days later, and sure enough he chased them around and inhaled them. So I think that he's adjusting and to let him relax. But, I don't know......it is scary when they suddenly stop eating on you.

I'm wondering how you know yours is a female?

Also, I just got a hypo alligator snapper on Wednesday...and he ate his first Rosy Red on Friday. His carapace length is about ~2 inches. Did you track any growth statistics with your snapper? I'd love to hear it.
