regular vs. morph balls and the price of normals.

blapython77 Mar 01, 2004 11:57 PM

I am not going to whine, but simply make a statement and ask a question.

I have always wanted a non-genetic stripe ball python, but have not bought one due to the fact that people want an unusually high price for the normals due to their pattern. How many times have we answered the question on here "Is my snake a morph?"

Why is it that folks think that a normal colored animal will turn out to be some new morph? Tell me what current proven genetic morph has totally normal color and only the pattern is inheritable. (besides the corey woods black black).

I saw a snake in the classifieds today that I would consider buying if it was not over $300 for a normal male with a stripe on his back that has no chance of being genetic.

The people selling these snakes like this are just pretenders in the morph market, but are only a contender in my book.

Let's sell normals for a normal price, and morphs for a morph price.

Sorry if you were offended by my comments, but I am not looking to make friends, just to state a point.

HAPPY HERPING

the people trying to sell normals for wannabe morph prices are only pretenders and not contenders.

A normal colored morph that has an inheritable pattern-genetic stripe

the reason why people are asking higher prices for non genetic stripes is because they are so rare. How many normals do you see that have a complete or nearly complete stripe down the back? hardly any. Why aren't non genetic stripes the same as normals? because they are not normal. that is almost like asking why are the cheapest morph is over 1k? because they are not normal and are rare (compared to number of normals).

pastels $700 that is chepaer than $1k

I could maybe see $150 or so, but over $300 for a normal male just for his pattern? I guess they charge it because ignorant people buy them. No blushing balls, granite balls, or any of those others have ever proven genetic. You didn't read my post very well or undertand what I was getting at. I just don't think any normal ball besides huge females are worth that kind of money no matter what.

Where did the morph thing come in at? I have bought my anmals for the asking price, and never negotiate. If i can't afford the asking price, I don't inquire about the animal. I know why morphs cost what they cost. How long have you been keeping snakes, and how many species have you worked with or around? I know what I mean and I am dead right on the subject.
