His substrate needs a change quite badly so I plan on buying some more sand (the ground is still frozen solid) and mixing it with some potting soil to give it a different feel. I'm going to put more substrate in than I did before. This extra stuff will allow Ra to kick substrate around as he sees fit.
I will cover the front open end of the bottom stair of his basking spot with soil to give him that "safe den" feeling. He never goes in from the front, always from the hole on the top (he doesn't use the other holes much at all) like he's entering a den. Also, that's his new spot to sleep. The next thing I'm going to do is build an arficial den (for now) with some plastic tubing and some kind of tupperware container which I will bury under the soil. With more substrate added, some of the rock hides will be mostly buried so Ra will be able to dig out another hide for himself. The last big change will be getting him a bigger tank. I'm on the verge of getting a new job that pays very well and if I get it, I will get a custom-made tank for Ra. I'll post some pics as I make the changes and update you all on his behaviour (less glass dancing I hope).
