Rest In Peace

Icarus Mar 02, 2004 11:25 AM

I regret to inform the forum that my male (Icarus) has passed away. I got home from the weekend and was saddened to see that he had attempted to dig his way under his rock. I've no idea how he did this, because there was roughly two centimeters of sand between the bottom of the cage and the rock... Sigh.

Now I do not know what to do, as Heine (that would be his girl) is all alone. I don't really want to replace him... but I may do so. It's that, or I sell her - and change breeds. I'm sure all of you are used to losing these guys (not through lack of care, but I have a feeling many folk on here have owned lizards for quite some time) - but I'm a first-time owner (thus underestimating the digging abilities of collareds) and am saddened by such a quick loss (I've had him for just about six months).

Imagine, finding one of mine like that, Oh thats sad.

I know a few others have had that happen with a rock.

I have my slate resting on bricks, and any rock is resting on another rock, just on the glass, them I put the sand in.

I have only lost one lizard in the past few years, just recently a mountain horned dragon, (egg related) And I dont look forward to losing anymore

Very upsetting!

Hope ya feel a little happier soon, so sorry for your lose.

Good luck with your decision(as far as your girl)

Eve

Thanks Eve,

After watching Heine for a couple hours, I can't give her up either. So soon I'll be on the lookout for new collareds. Are there any problems with mixing subspecies?
