So I'm looking for plants...any help would be appreciated...

Nicodemus Mar 02, 2004 12:37 PM

I'm looking to add a couple of potted plants to my uros terrarium, but I'm not sure which will do ok in that high heat environment and still be ok for him in case he decides to munch on em a bit, or climb around in or in them...

Any suggestions?

Succulents are basically edible cacti. Among them are the Prickly Pear catcus which is very good for uros (you've got to burn the needles off though). They are desert plants and I suspect that uros feed off them any chance they get.

Hope this helps

besides the prickly pear cacti?

Specifically something that doesn't need to be prepared so he can bite it from time to time in the enclosure...

as I'm not a botanist. Maybe Doug Dix could offer some suggestions. Aloe Vera is another safe plant for your uro but it would need more water than a cactus and would have to be placed in the cool end of the enclosure. Succulents are probably safe (I can't say with 100% certainty) but I have no idea what the Ca/P is for each plant. That may take some researching.

That's the best I can do, sorry
