Water / Baths

Dragonfliz79 Mar 02, 2004 02:47 PM

When I bought my Uro the guy at the pet store said avoid water at all costs it could kill the Uro. They get all the water they need through the plants and veggies. But then I see people on the board have water bowls and bath there uro.
So how often do you bath a uro once a week / month? Is it better not to put a water bowl in the cage to keep it dry.

Thanks Again for the Help!!

i think it depends on your uro, i have never given mine a bath but he has always eaten enough to where he was not being dehydrated, there was always the presence of the "white stuff" in the fecies which is a OK indicator of the hydration of the animal. if you do bathe your amimal you should be sure to dry their tail, to prevent tail rot.

the uro will go through it sometimes and he will get wet but his tail will hold some of that water on it and it can cause tail rot....sad thing to see.

so most people don't give their uros a water dish. i find it better to give them a moist substrate, or bathe them 1 a week or 1 every 2 weeks.

the only thing i have inside his tank is a small (1 in wide) water dish in case Uro wants to drink some water but it is definately too small for Uro to get in!but i give himm bath once in a while!

Once he gets used to it, you can give him baths as often as you like as long as you dry him very well.
